I wrote this song while on a working vacation at a cottage near Orillia, in the midst of the coldest January we've seen in years. The furnace in the cottage ran out of propane in the middle of the night, and I awoke to an indoor temperature of about 3 degrees Celsius. Once the propane supplier was called in and I knew I'd eventually be able to heat up the cottage again, I made a pot of tea, wrapped myself up in blankets and wrote this "don't worry, be happy" song.
Written on guitar, I actually didn't have a piano part worked out until we were in the studio in New Jersey. After tracking drums and bass against a pre-recorded guitar part, I sat down at the grand piano in the studio and wrote a piano part to fit. It was an incredibly creative time, working with the fantastic staff at The Barber Shop Studios in New Jersey. Talk about Feeling Good...
lyrics
Feeling Good
I’m a tiger in the park, whistling in the dark
Waiting to sink my teeth into something good
I’m a puppet with no strings, I can do most anything
And it won’t hurt at all ‘cause I’m made of wood
You may smile and say I don’t know how to cry
I’m just feeling good today, and nothing can stop this high
Yes, I’m feeling good
Feeling so, so good
Nothing’s gonna bring me down
I’m a streamer on a kite, never scared of the height
The wind can lean on me, I’ll just spin and dance around
I’m the moon up in the sky, your ever steady firefly
I’ll follow you all night long, all around this town
You may say I have no reason for a smile
But I’m feeling good today, like it’s goin’ out of style
Yesterday was hard for me
And tomorrow, well it’s looking much the same
But nothing can steal this moment of serenity
No you just can’t take this feeling away
I’ve no monopoly on having such a day
Maybe you'll feel it too, if you just smile and hear me say
I’m feeling good
Yes, I’m feeling very good
Feeling so, so good
Nothing’s gonna bring me down

Singer/Songwriter/Pianist/Producer/Engineer and many more things to many more people, Allister still can't decide what he
wants to be when he grows up. His music can perhaps be described as modern folk, since it contains rich storytelling and imagery, but it might be mistaken for Smooth Jazz, Roots or AC. You decide.
Any way you describe it, Allister's music will reach deep within and satisfy...more
